We are a materials engineering, inspection, and NDT firm based in Vancouver, BC, Canada. At Equadron, we work closely with clients to provide a wide array of services for new construction and rehabilitation projects.
We are seeking professionals to grow our field services team and provide the best in class services. Candidates should have a thorough understanding of the applicable construction codes, excellent communication skills, and the capacity to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
New field team members will lead all aspects of the in-process and final inspections at shops and construction sites. The role ensures project specifications, drawings, and inspection and test plans (ITPs) are followed and met at each stage of construction.

Welding Inspector
The successful candidate will perform QA/QC inspections to identify non-conformities with contract requirements, write welding inspection reports, and communicate requirements to shop and field personnel. In addition, the welding inspector will perform welding inspection audits, coordinate non-destructive testing (NDT) activities, and proactively assist shop and field personnel in addressing quality issues. This role might be requested to support afternoon and evening welding activities when required.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Reviews project specifications, IFC drawings, shop drawings, erection drawings, codes, and standards to determine quality requirements for each project;
- Reviews and follows new construction and repair projects’ Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs);
- Ensures ITPs are implemented in accordance with project requirements;
- Performs in-process and final welding inspections. Documents and communicates results to responsible supervisors;
- Documents all non-conformities and provides results to responsible shop and field personnel;
- Works with trade and area supervisors/managers to improve in-process quality;
- Performs periodic audits of other welding inspection firms to ensure compliance with project requirements; and
- When required, review project specifications, ITPs, IFC drawings, shop drawings, and erection drawings to provide opportunities for improvement.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Current valid CWB CSA W178.2 Level 1/2/3, or CGSB MT Level 2/3, or CGSB PT Level 2/3, or CGSB UT Level 2/3;
- Minimum 5 years of experience in the welding industry: structural steel, piping, or pressure vessels;
- Detailed understanding of the fabrication, installation, and testing of steel and miscellaneous metals;
- Solid understanding of quality control, quality assurance, and inspection procedures;
- Ability to read and understand manufacturing/shop drawings;
- Strong technical skills including an understanding of inspection and testing techniques and their application;
- Technical understanding of non-destructive testing (NDT) techniques and their application to meet project requirements;
- Excellent communication and writing skills;
- Customer service focus;
- Demonstrated initiative, innovation, and integrity; and
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365.

COATING Inspector
The successful candidate will perform QA/QC inspections to identify non-conformities with contract requirements, write coating inspection reports, and communicate requirements to shop and field personnel. In addition, the coating inspector will perform audits and proactively assist shop and field personnel in addressing quality issues. This role might be requested to support afternoon and evening coating activities when required and it requires PPE and inspection equipment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Reviews project specifications, IFC drawings, shop drawings, erection drawings, codes, and standards to determine quality requirements for each project;
- Reviews and follows new construction and repair projects’ Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs);
- Ensures ITPs are implemented in accordance with project requirements;
- Performs surface preparation, coating application, and final coating inspections. Documents and communicates results to responsible supervisors;
- Documents all non-conformities and provides results to responsible shop and field personnel;
- Works with trade and area supervisors/managers to improve in-process quality;
- Performs periodic audits of other coating inspection firms to ensure compliance with project requirements; and
- When required, review project specifications, and ITPs to provide opportunities for improvement.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Current valid NACE Coating Inspector Certification all levels;
- Minimum 5 years of experience in the coating industry;
- Detailed understanding of surface preparation, coating application, inspection, and testing requirements in NACE, SSPC, and ISO standards;
- Solid understanding of quality control, quality assurance, inspection, and testing procedures;
- Ability to read and understand manufacturing/shop drawings;
- Strong technical skills including an understanding of quality techniques and their application;
- Excellent communication and writing skills;
- Customer service focus;
- Demonstrated initiative, innovation, and integrity; and
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365.
